Sketchbook
It’s important for me to get all ideas down on paper as quickly as possible. I might not use them for a few months, or even years but I have found it so useful to build up collections of reference material to use on future projects. I believe sketchbooks are an invaluable tool for creatives like myself and often keep one to hand. inspired by the creative practice of authors/illustrators such as Judith Kerr, Miroslav Sasek & Shirley Hughes I try to draw on location as much as possible, capturing the sights, sounds and smells is important in helping me make rich imagery. I have a long way to go on this but I am confident I can get there with practice & patience! Here are some examples of my sketchbooks.
